I love Christmas, it is my very favorite time of year. I love the colors that go with Christmas and all the decorations. It is a very special time!I wish we could have a bit of snow during Christmas but that will probably not be so. Arkansas is not know for it's snowy season, rain is our snow

Although it is still a while until Christmas I have been getting my gifts together. I am usually very very late but decided this year to get on the ball =) We are having all of our family and a special friend with us this year so it is going to be a wonderful time and I wanted to be organized. I want to be able to spend time with my girls,sons-in-laws and grand daughters. So because of that, I actually have a lot of my gifts ready and even some wrapped. I still have some to hand make but just being a bit ahead makes me really glad.

Work has been very busy as it usually is at Christmas time. I always make grand plans for me, my house , my web site and on and on and if I can succeed at 1/3 of them I will be doing well, but I love it anyway.
Our "Going Green for Christmas" event has come and gone and was a great . I love creating things for it, to help folks have a greener home and I love being able to spend time with all my friends and customers who help support me in this adventure of business and life.

In trying to be green in our home we recycle and try to reduce , reuse everything we can, I hang out laundry to save on energy and I save almost every scrap of fabric that I have left over to keep to use for other projects. I have a stock pile, and try not to toss out anything until I know I cannot use it. My daughter comes home to visit and is able to gather some of the larger scraps to make quilts. This is my favorite way to see the reuse of something, and being rewarded in seeing a beautiful quilt.

We have also reused boxes provided they are lean & sturdy. It is another step in trying to help our company head in that green direction as much as we can.

I hope you all are looking forward to Christmas as well. Even during the hard time we have much to be grateful for. And remember happiness is fleeting but Joy is everlasting !

The Holidays are coming our way!!

It has finally cooled off a little here and has made life a bit easier.The garden is still growing and we are beginning to look forward to the holidays.
So far we have had an eventful year, our second grand daughter arrived in June, a blessing to our oldest daughter & her husband and one to us as well. Our youngest daughter was able to visit with our oldest grand daughter 2 1/2 year old Ivy and it made summer the most enjoyable yet.She is a joy to be with! Many of the ideas I have and the inspiration I receive comes from my daughters and grand daughters and they make life wonderful! I am looking forward to the holidays and creating special things for all of you!

I thought to kick off the fall and holiday season I would do a drawing for one of our new Home Banners. I have our new Halloween "Trick or Treat" banner made and ready for the free drawing.You can hang these in your house or on a wreath hanger for your front door to announce each holiday. These will be added to our web set as ready made items later this year. We will be celebrating all the holidays with these cute banners, Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year's ,birthday's & many more. You will be able to hang the birthday's ones on the front door for a week to announce and celebrate that special persons birthday. Summer, Fall & back to school

It has been a very busy summer here at J&K designs. A new grand daughter in the family and another one to visit meant plenty of opportunity to do some sewing for fun along with some work projects as well. I love to sew & create, it is a passion for me and any new opportunity to create something fun, is one I will take. Here are the girls in one of their J&K Designs creations. They were perfect for a little photo shoot as well. Matching pillow case dresses with red rick rackand co-ordinating bloomers of red with white polka dots made for a fun and whimsical outfit, and a very cute picture

I had some inspiration from our daughter Kelly (the K in J&K Designs) and will soon be trying out a new project for the home. I think it will be great fun and something everyone might like to have for their home.I am excited about it and can't wait to see it completed!
Fall is on the way, or so I like to hope and time to start thinking about Thanks giving and Christmas and any really special gifts that you might be wanting to give to that some one special.We will be having our Christmas show again this year here at the house and I hope to have some new and fun things for everyone to be able to choose from.Here is a picture from last years, I had a great time and look forward to this years as well.

Summer is here!!

Summer has arrived in full force here in Arkansas and we are busy busy busy sewing and getting lots of embroidery done.I am very excited about our new embroidery designs ,applique and stitched and will have them in our baby section soon and will have the baby section updated so more items can be ordered on line. We will also have some new animal /dog & cat items in the future as well and will post those for all to see.These pictures will be posted soon.

This picture frame and memory board were made as a gift and will be added to our site as some of our new items. Customize these for your special baby and they will make a great gift! You will be able to choose your fabric and your ribbon and embroidery designs, whether it be stitched or appliqued, your choice. Personalization will also be available for these as well.

We have also been working on some of our sports items and getting those up to speed so that they can ordered online as well. Soccer & basketball and Figure Skating on my!We offer single towels and towel sets, blankets pillowcases, and other items! We will be adding all these new areas over the summer and hope to have everything ready by fall. We now have our Irish dance section updated and will be creating some new embroidery for that area as well this year. We have a dancer design with a new dress that we will be added later this year as well.

Going Going Gone Green!

Going Green is becoming something we have been hearing a lot about and will probably hearing a lot more of in the future.We have many items at J&K Designs & I try to make sure that all of them are items that are useful and reusable. At home I have been making an effort to reduce recycle & reuse items as well. In an effort to help out with this in a wider realm I have begun offering these new crocheted items on line. These dish clothes, scrubbies, make-up removers, mini face poofs & bath poofs and other items are all able to be used, washed and used over & over.

This is especially true with the make up removers. When you use the regular kind, it is usually one or two uses and then in the trash. With these reusable ones you can thrown them in the laundry, wash, lay them out to dry or throw them in the dryer.

All of our make up remover sets & bath poofs come with a cotton muslin bag for washing. This is great for keeping the make-up removers from getting lost in the laundry and for the poofs from gathering lint from washing with the towels!

As well all of our "Going Green" Crocheted items come in a recyclable box so it will save on waste as well. If you have not tried any of these types of items you are missing out. The dish clothes & scrubbies are great in the kitchen,& wash well. My daughter uses the make-up removers, and says she is able to use them several times before she has to launder them and that they work great!

Child's Pull on Apron Front

Well, Christmas is fast approaching and we have been busily working on gifts for J&K Designs orders, friends and family! This is an apron I have made for my grand daughter Ivy Winter for Christmas. She LOVES to help her mommy in the Kitchen and will get a lot of use out of this! I will be adding these to out Children's department and Kitchen department during January. These will make a great gift item for the smaller child helping out. They tie in the back and won't slip off as easily and cover the front. They have a pocket so they can store those little things they love to keep. It would even be great for dinner time or messy activity.

These will be able to be ordered with pre-made plain binding or you can choose fabric your binding can be made from. This one features the handmade decorative binding and it sure is cute! On the right you can see a close up of the applique design that went on Ivy's. This is our Muffles the Owl, in applique design. You will be able to choose the fabrics for the design and if it is for a little girl the bow can go on the head and for boys it will be at the neck as a Bow Tie!

Well ,Fall will soon be upon us. It has been a very hot summer here in Arkansas making sewing some days a bit warm. I am always grateful for air conditioning especially the 106 days =)

Speciality Custom Items make great gifts!

This design is a special one for me. I created this because our youngest had wanted to be an archeologist since she was little and once she finally got to university to study for it I created this design for her. I then met a little girl who has the same passion for history & archeology, and was able to use this design to allow them to order this special blanket just for her.

This was a great unique item that was requested for a brides garter. Her now husband is a volunteer firefighter and this was made and attached to a garter I created for her and as a special surprise for him when he got to see it. I was delighted to be able to do create this. It was a very unique item and added that special touch to the wedding.I am always happy to create that one of a kind item.


Bunting, Bunting, Bunting, Lots of bunting created for a special wedding. This was a special request for a family wedding. Hung from the ceiling it was beautiful and added a really special touch for a summer wedding. This will be added to our wedding section in the next few months.

A special gift for a special baby. It's always nice when you can give that unique and special gift. I enjoy the surprise and delight when someone receives something they really love.This was a matching /coordinating set made as a baby gift. It included a Pillowcase dress, Burp Cloth and bib & all the items have a applique letter for this little girls first name. This will be a unique gift just for her.Check out our web site!

Well I have been busily at work trying to get samples and cute things made for the web site and get it updated.This is a picture of my grand daughter Ivy with one her many new hair bows, and she is always happy to model for me. Bridal Area Updates

It has been a beautiful day here in AR today, 70 degrees this afternoon the the sun is out & it always done wonders to liven the mood as well. I wish I could work 24 hours a day. =)Alas I cannot, sleep calls occasionally and pain from my car accident limits how much I can do daily, but I work when I can, fill orders as quickly as possible and fit in web work in between.

The BRIDAL AREA is in the middle of being updated. I am very excited to have BRIDAL READY TO SHIP area is open now with limited items. I am working hard to get more items added soon. These items will ship in 24-48 hours so if you do not have time for the custom ordering area these are perfect. If you need a quick bridal or wedding gift these will be great!The custom area has also been updated and I am working on it to get it finished up and the new items added. Cami Sets are now available for custom ordering and our Bridal towel section has been updated with a whole selection of towels sets, single towels and hand towels. The BRIDAL PARTY gift area will be open soon so if you need items for your bridal party, this will be the place to shop. I am excited as well about some new baby and children's ideas, I am working on. It will be a bit before they all get added but I will let everyone know when that gets done. I will have some new memory boards ideas, wall plaques , some cute kids outfits, cute blanket ideas as well as ready made in this section as well.
I will begin limited traveling to Irish Dance competitions as well. My hubby is home now and he can drive and carry all the heavy items and be of valuable help to me when I am under the weather. He has already become an expert on sweeping and mopping! =) and he is the expert feis helper.
